The Department of Education received from CBS China Bank Savings brand-new digital equipment during a turnover ceremony in Pasig City. DepEd Undersecretary Atty Gerard Chan and senior education officials welcomed the support extended by CBS and called on the private sector to expand its support for education.
Part of the Bank's 6 million-peso endowment for public education, the latest donation consisting of 36 laptops will be distributed to DepEd Regional focal point persons tasked with leading the implementation of digital education programs and activities.
"This package forms part of the 6 million pesos worth of donations under the CBS Gadget Assistance Program and to support the 2022 Brigada Eskwela campaign," according to Niel C. Jumawan, head of the Bank's APD Lending Group.
This year, over 450 schools nationwide received digital equipment, school supplies, hygiene and sanitary kits, cleaning supplies, and materials for repair and construction from CBS.
"CBS is committed to closer private sector-DepEd cooperation, in line with our nationwide CBS Build and Rise Initiative," Jumawan said.
The CBS Build and Rise Initiative "envisions and aspires to help Build and Raise a nation that enjoys common prosperity; a country where Filipinos can all pursue lives that are strongly-rooted, comfortable, and secure."
