The Department of Education named CBS China Bank Savings as one of the agency's outstanding private sector partners during the national DepEd Partners' Appreciation and Recognition ceremony held on 20 February 2024 at GSIS Theater in the Financial Center, Pasay City. APD Lending Group head Niel C. Jumawan accepted the two awards on behalf of CBS.
The awards cited
CBS for "unwavering commitment, exceptional collaboration and invaluable contribution in support of the
MATATAG Agenda for the DepEd Basic Education Plan to provide quality basic education to all learners;" and for the "outstanding benevolence and exemplary generosity during the grand celebration of 2023 National Teachers Day themed: #TogetherForTeachers . and unwavering dedication which played a pivotal role in making the unforgettable occasion a reality."
"We are deeply honored by this recognition from the Department of Education," APDLG head Niel C. Jumawan said. "Our commitment to advocacies of the DepEd and the MATATAG Program, is our way of giving to the public schools in return for the kind patronage by DepEd teachers and employees of CBS financial services."
CBS has been a private sector partner of DepEd for nearly a decade. From a small operation consisting of 10 employees and three "borrowed" tables in CBS San Fernando-Bayan Branch in Pampanga in 2015, the CBS financial services program for DepEd employees has grown into a specially dedicated nationwide network of 96 lending centers and branch-lites, alongside our 168 regular branches.
CBS helps bridge gaps in the field of public education, to ensure safe and conducive environment for learners, and to enhance the wellbeing of public school teachers and other DepEd employees.
As an active stakeholder in
Brigada Eskwela, the
National Teachers Day celebration, and various advocacies of DepEd, CBS contributes to the MATATAG agenda, the new basic education curriculum that prioritizes the mastery of literacy and numeracy skills among learners.
