CBS China Bank Savings, the country’s second-largest thrift bank, has reiterated its commitment to supporting the Department of Education (DepEd) in enhancing the quality of public education.
During an official visit to Education Secretary Sonny Angara on October 14, the CBS delegation, led by First Vice President Niel C. Jumawan, expressed the bank’s dedication to this cause. Since January, the thrift bank has made a combined P22-million social investment in various DepEd programs. CBS and the Department of Education signed a collaborative partnership agreement at the conclusion of the visit.

CBS plans to intensify its engagement with DepEd through initiatives such as Brigada Eskwela operations and the National Teachers Month commemoration in 2025. Additionally, the bank will support Project GURO, which facilitates faculty career progression through higher education, and the CBS Financial Wellness Road Show for DepEd teachers and employees, which was re-launched this year.
“CBS aims to upscale our involvement with the Department of Education to reach more teachers and learners,” said FVP Jumawan. CBS is also exploring other initiatives to further the welfare of teachers and learners, in alignment with DepEd’s goals for the coming year.
