CBS China Bank Savings has launched a new initiative as part of its ‘Build and Rise’ campaign in support of entrepreneurship and SMEs in the Philippines. The CBS ‘My Story’ and CBS ‘SME Kapihan’ initiative is an effort by CBS to help SMEs and young entrepreneurs reach more markets online. As part of the initiative, the CBS Marketing Services Department, led by Warren Augustus D. de Guzman, produces videos for social media, featuring SMEs and the entrepreneurial roadblocks which they overcame with the help of the Bank.
To date, three SMEs have been featured under the ‘
SME Kapihan’ segment of the 'CBS My Story’ Initiative. They are
MerNel’s Cakehouse,
Paciencia Flores Handicrafts, and
Panaderia Antonio. The videos can be found on the
CBS YouTube Channel. The SMEs featured are long-term clients of the bank, some of which have been with CBS for its entire 16-year history.

“
CBS China Bank Savings has a modest social media following of over 150,000. But that number of followers already qualifies the Bank as a Macro-influencer. We found out how much some macro-influencers are charging businesses for advertising and promotion deals, and it was very expensive. We decided as a Bank that we can do that for our SME clients for free,” said Warren de Guzman, who is a former broadcast journalist with 17-years experience at ABS-CBN News. “We produce everything internally, and the clients are naturally more than happy to also endorse CBS in the videos. The best part of it is, none of it is scripted. Everything that is shown is exactly what the clients want to say.”
