P13.1-M donation by CBS to boost Brigada Eskwela 2025

June 9, 2025 CBS China Bank Savings, one of the country's leading thrift banks, announced the handover of P13.1 million in donations as part of the Department of Education (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela mobilization to prepare schools for the official start of classes on June 16. The donation was announced on June 9 on the sidelines of the Brigada Eskwela 2025 national kick-off in Bacacay and Malilipot towns in Albay. "As a long-time partner of the Department of Education, CBS makes this social investment in Brigada Eskwela in the spirit of bayanihan and cooperation," according to First Vice President Niel C. Jumawan, head of the APD Lending Group. "By continuing to work together, we can increase student participation, enhance learner well-being, and support our teachers in delivering quality basic education." Brigada Eskwela 2025 Legaspi City This year's Brigada Eskwela theme is Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa, underscoring the importance of literacy and collective responsibility in creating conducive learning environments. The donation by CBS consists of construction materials, maintenance supplies and office equipment to more than 700 elementary schools, high schools and vocational/trade schools across the nation. In April, CBS turned over P1.7 million worth of brand-new laptops to the DepEd to help reinforce the 2025 Program for International Student Assessment. In a statement, CBS explained that the technology package is part of the Bank's social investment to help accelerate the acquisition of essential 21st-century skills. CBS is also continuing the Financial Wellness roadshow for DepEd faculty and employees. The series of forums aims to promote financial smarts, share experiences and provide participants with the practical tools to build and manage finances wisely, scam-proof their hard-earned assets, and plan for a financially-secure future.
