"We are grateful for this award which is a validation of our Bank's purpose to improve the quality of life of underserved sectors, and our commitment to help uplift the welfare of teachers and learners in the public school system," he said. "CBS shares the Peace award with the members of the communities we serve, who are the center of our nation-building mission involving financial inclusion, consumer empowerment, and the promotion of entrepreneurial spirit." CBS is an active proponent of both quality education for learners in the public school system and the delivery of accessible financial services to Department of Education teachers and employees, especially in the countryside. The Bank was recently cited by the Department of Education for invaluable contributions to the agency's MATATAG agenda, including the Brigada Eskwela program and the National Teachers Day campaign. The MBFI bestows the Peace recognition upon institutions from the academe, business sector, non-government and socio-civic organizations, national government agencies, media, and diplomatic missions. The award is done every five years to recognize partners that have “collaborated impactfully” with MBFI in the mission of enriching the lives of the most vulnerable and underserved sectors in Philippine society. Kapit-Bisig is inspired by the age-old spirit of bayanihan featuring a community of stakeholders and institutional partners working in the spirit of cooperative effort to achieve a common goal. The interweaving loops of brass represent the collective power in pursuit of nation-building, destined to last and prosper in the years to come. Twenty-nine other Peace awardees were bestowed the Kapit-Bisig trophy designed by MADE awardee and architect Jonathan V. Dangue.
