CBS China Bank Savings, together with parent Chinabank, engaged with Manila Water Company recently to plant more trees at the La Mesa Ecopark, the last bastion of green space in Metro Manila, and the main provider of water for the city. The tree planting activity is part of the CBS' ambitious internal campaign to plant one million trees nationwide, and to engage CBS employees in meaningful, sustainable activities.
On October 12, CBS mobilized over 70 volunteer "eco-warriors," including family members and a delegation from its parent, Chinabank, to plant 150 native tree saplings in the groves of La Mesa Ecopark. Aside from tree planting, the volunteers also engaged in the weeding of invasive plant life to ensure the survival of the saplings.

This recent activity brings the total number of
trees planted by CBS in the La Mesa Watershed area to 900 since July 2023. The La Mesa Watershed is the last rainforest of its size in Metro Manila and serves as the primary source of potable drinking water for over 13 million residents.
CBS has also announced plans for future reforestation trips to target sites in Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the coming months.
This initiative is part of the Bank’s commitment to mitigating the impact of climate change and actively participating in the Philippine sustainability agenda.
